The experiences a child has in his/her first five years determine how easy or difficult it will be for that child to learn in the future. Brain development during these first five years is enormous. During this time, brain connections for current and future learning form. Choosing the right child care for your child is a very important decision.
Discoveries provides children with a safe, healthy, loving, educational program designed to promote future success. Our goal is to help each child reach his/her individual potential and to encourage children's curiousity and love of learning. There are several things that set us apart from other child care programs in the area including:
- Family Friendly Care
It can be very difficult to leave your little one in child care. At Discoveries, your family’s values and opinions will be respected. We strive to provide child care in a way that respects your family's values and beliefs. We are happy to discuss things and make changes to our program that allow us to care for your child in the way that you would. We are respectful of famillies because we know that you are your child's first and most important teachers.
- Evidence Based Curriculum
Your child will receive the highest quality of education. All staff receive annual training on High Scope. High Scope is a well respected, evidence based curriculum. Teachers create daily lesson plans in response to each child's development and interests. These lesson plans focus on specific key indicators that your child should be developing at their age. This is one way that we help your child be successful.
- Carefully Planned Environment Your child will have many interactive learning experiences. Each toy that is placed in the child care has been carefully selected to promote development of specific skills. You will notice that our rooms are clean and safe, well stocked with learning materials, and decorated with calm colors and influences of nature. The learning environment is very important in determining how much a child learns. In fact, early childhood experts sometimes refer to the learning environment as the third teacher.
- Knowledgable, Educated Staff with Ongoing Training
Your child will be provided with the best education by teachers that understand best practices for early childhood and brain development during the first five years. Each year, our teachers receive 24+ hours of top-notch professional development to keep them informed of research and best practices in the field. Teachers receive support in implementing what they learn into their everday work with your child.
